Urban Eyes; Fuel for the Arts - Aug. 15, 2009 2pm-7pm @ MUND Park

Steady Baltimore presents Urban Eyes; Fuel for the Arts... a block party featuring the works of Baltimore’s urban artists and performers. This event is in collaboration with the United Sisters Mentoring Program.

Hosts: E the poet-emcee and more!

WHAT: Steady Baltimore Urban Arts League and United Sisters Mentoring Program are organizing a day of appreciation for visual, vocal, urban arts and expression in the heart of Baltimore City. Youthful souls will have the opportunity to observe a multitude of street art presentations and performances. Aspiring artists will have the opportunity to meet productive local artists and to educate themselves on today's possibilities as creators in society.

• Sake, Leo Brady, JaziRock, Refuge, Curve, Arek and several other street artists will host workshops and exhibitions relating to their skill set.

• LIVE PAINTING WALLS!

• Live performances by Mzery Loves Company, JPope, Chad, Black Wind, Ron Williams and more.
+ DJ Vicious V and guest DJs will spin break beats and hip hop to compliment.

• B-Boys: Booda Monk, Mr. Salaam and other B-Boys and B-Girls.

Artist workshops begin at 2:30 p.m. Live painting and other ongoing activities start at 2 p.m.

WHY: Young people in Baltimore's neglected communities ARE living the most powerful and productive period of their lives and are in need of a venue for a voice. We aim to strengthen the relationship between developing artists and established artists through a day of informal mentor ship and networking. Through the alliance of several grassroots organizations, we plan to act in support of community pride and empowerment.

United Sisters has partnered with Steady Baltimore to establish an urban arts and youth mentoring center in the Greenmount community. The attaining of the necessary funding and volunteer base will be an ongoing objective, and this will serve as an awareness-of-the-cause event and fundraiser.
