Eviction of the homeless.

I'm sorry this is at such short notice, everyone, but I just found out myself. Tomorrow morning, at 6 am, the cops will be evicting 40+ people from the encampment under the expressway, north of E. Madison and between Guilford and Fallsway. Two residents, Jacqui and Jeremy, have sent out press releases to the media and have homeless advocacy lawyers coming to observe. However, they are also asking anyone who can to show up and be a witness. If any of you have legal observer training, your presence would be very, very helpful.

Please, forward this widely!

The Mike Herron Benefit

visit: www.themikeherronbenefit.com
or: join the cause on facebook

This is one of Baltimore's own artists and one of our peers. Lets show support by donating works of art (not limited to graffiti) and art supplies for sale at the February fundraiser (more below) and money... every little bit counts!

35-year-old Mike Herron, who also goes by the name “Ryke” was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The debilitating effects of this disease have caused significant financial strain for Mike and his four beautiful children. The side effects from prescribed chemotherapy treatments have made it impossible for Mike to work. Without health insurance and having to endure a 1-3 year wait for SSI/Disability assistance, this family is in a bind. Join the community as we show our support and lend a hand to this deserving family.

Fundraiser Event:

The Mike Herron Benefit is scheduled for Saturday March 6, 2010

7pm - 1am at Skyloft Galleries 3701 Bank St. Baltimore Maryland 21224

$10 Donation at the door... Over 90 contributing artists from around the world and a prize raffle.

If you wish to make a donation of art, art supplies or other items, please contact the organizers directly: info@themikeherronbenefit.com

Building news!

Congratulations to yours and ours On November 21st, 2009, we received notification that our request for architectural design assistance with the North Ave. building in need of rehab has been accepted. This means that we have been awarded assistance from a team of architects with the drafting of conceptual drawings for the building. In mid-2010, you will be able to view our plans for the gallery and youth mentoring center... but in the meantime, this means that we have the right to proceed with business as usual. Thanks Neighborhood Design Center!
